Thomas Giles (1820-1899) was associated with G. A. Anstey in developing pastoral leases on Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas. William Butler drove some of the first sheep flocks on to the Yourke Peninsula around 1850. As a consequence of his time working for Thomas Giles, many of William Butler's descendants still live and work in the Minlaton District.For additional reading the following links are recommended:
